Karoly Takacs was a sergeant in the Army in Hungary.
He was the top pistol shooter in 1938 (age–28 years). He won most of major national and international championships. He was very close to win the 1940 Tokyo Olympic Games gold medal. But one day all the dreams were spoiled. A hand grenade exploded in Károly’s right hand, his shooting hand at an Army training session. That hand grenade destroyed his shooting hand and his Olympic dream.

When an unlucky thing happen, people sink in self pity and question themselves "why me? why did this happen to me? Why is the creator so cruel to me? " But Karoly did not behave like that. He had nerves of steel, stainless steel. He looked for ways to convert his dream into beautiful reality.

After spending a month in hospital, he came out with mind blowing
optimism. He decided to practice shooting with his left hand.

Until then there was no left handed champions in pistol shooting.
History and Facts clearly mentioned there was no left hand winners in shooting competitions. But people who believe in facts cannot create new possibilities. So he did not care the facts. He decided to make his left hand the best shooting hand in the world.

After one year, Károy participated in National shooting championship in Hungary. He won gold medal. Unfortunately Olympic Games were cancelled due to world war II. After that, in 1948, Olympic Games were held in London. Károly was chosen to represent Hungary in pistol shooting event. He participated in 25 meter rapid fire pistol event. He won gold medal. The world shocked. His achievement was published in all the newspapers
all over the world.

Four years later, Olympics held in Helsinki, Finland. Again Karoly
participated. Károly won another gold medal in shooting event.

We all have faced failures in life, we feel defeated, crushed and
beaten. The next time you feel like that, think of Károly. Don’t cry
and dont say why me? Don’t worry about what you have lost. Focus on what you still have. No hand grenade can blast your will,
