Thane Chiquinho Scarpa is one of the richest and most powerful   men in Brazil. One day he made a sensation by making an announcement.

He announced that he was going to bury his £310,000 (€367,220)
Bentley car in the earth, so that he would be able to drive it in the
afterlife (heaven). He explained that he has taken inspiration from
Egyptian Pharaohs, who were buried in their tombs with their most
precious belongings, gold and diamonds.

He received lots of media attention, mostly negative. He was
severely criticized for a wasting of a precious car. Why would not he
donate the car to charity? He still went ahead with the ceremony.

But, there’s a twist.

He lowered his expensive car into the ground for burial. Then he
declared that he was not going to bury it. Then he revealed the
matter behind his drama. His intention was just to create awareness
for organ donation.

He said “People criticised and scolded me because I wanted to
bury a million dollar Bentley. They said I could donate my car to
someone. In fact most people bury something a lot more valuable
than my car.
They bury hearts, livers, lungs, eyes, kidneys. This is absurd.
So many people are waiting for a transplant and you bury your
healthy organs that could save so many lives.
Why dont you people donate your organs after your death? "
