The Miracle

Tess was an 8 year old small girl. One day she heard her Mom and Dad talking about her little brother, Andrew. All she understood was
that he was very sick and they were completely out of money. They
were moving to an apartment complex next month because her daddy
didn’t have the money for the doctor bills and the house. Only a very
costly surgery could save him now and it was looking like there was
no-one to loan them the money. She heard her daddy say to her tearful
mother with a desperation, “Only a miracle can save our son now.”

Tess went to her bedroom and pulled a jar from her closet. She poured
all the change upon the floor and counted it three times carefully. She
took all the change and ran to a medical shop 6 blocks away from her
house. She waited patiently for the pharmacist to give her some
attention but he was too busy. She cleared her throat to get his
attention.
“what do you want?” the pharmacist asked her.
“Well, I want to talk to you about my brother,” Tess answered .
“He is really, really sick… and I want to buy a miracle.”
“I beg your pardon?” said the pharmacist.
“His name is Andrew and he has something bad growing inside his
head and my daddy said only a miracle could save him. So how
much does a miracle cost?”
“Oh. Little girl. We don’t sell miracles here. I’m sorry, I can’t help you,”
the pharmacist said.
“Listen, I have the money to pay for it. See my money”. She showed
her money to the pharmacist.
A customer in the same shop listened to the words of Tess. He came
to the girl and asked "What kind of a miracle does your brother need?”
“I don’t know,” Tess replied “I just know he’s really sick and mommy
says he needs an operation. But my Daddy can’t pay for it, so I want
to use my money.”
“How much do you have?” asked the man.
“One dollar and eleven cents,” Tess answered loudly
“Well, what a coincidence,” smiled the man. “A dollar and eleven cents
– the exact price of a miracle for little brothers.” He took her money
and said, “Take me to your brother. I want to see what kind of miracle
your brother needs".
The man took the hand of Tess and went to her house. The man talked
to her parents, joined their son, Andrew, in his hospital. That well
dressed man was Dr. Carlton Armstrong, a surgeon, specialised in
neuro-surgery, in Chicago.
On 7th, Feb, 2001, Dr. Carlton Armstrong completed an operation
successfully for Andrew in his famous hospital. The doctor did not
charge anything for the operation. The parents thanked the doctor with
their whole heart and took their son to their house.
After reaching the house, Tess's dad told her wife "It is surprising.
Really a miracle saved our son.
Tess said happily "yes dad. I bought that miracle with one dollar and
eleven cents".
