mother used to live on a roadside pavement. Daily Jayavel used
to go to traffic signals to beg money. when vehicles stopped at
traffic signals, he went to cars and bikes and begged money from
the riders. He brought that money to her mother. Unfortunately his
mother was an alcoholic addict. The whole money he earned was
used for drinking by his mother.

Daily he waited to satisfy the hunger in his stomach. He never
thought about tomorrow. All he wanted was some food for his stomach.

Uma and Muthuraman are a couple who are maintaining "Suyam
Charitable Trust". One day they came to thyagaraya nagar, Chennai
to shoot a documentary film about the poverty of street boys.
The couple talked with Jayavel for a video shoot. But the couple
were very impressed by the activeness of jayavel. They asked
Jayavel whether he was interested in education. They were ready
to join him in school and hostel, If Jayavel was interested.
Jayavels' mother and his friends did not accept the proposal of
that couple. But Jayavel accepted the proposal. Because he
understood he could surely get food 2 times a day, If he had gone
with that couple.

Javavel joined a good school in Chennai. Unfortunately some of
his class mates have seen him as a beggar, begging at traffic
signals. All his class mates came to know he was a beggar.
Everybody started teasing him and mocking at him. But Jayavel
concentrated on his studies. Jayavel passed 10th class with first
class, and 12th class with distinction.

He wrote exams to study abroad. He got a great score and he got
scholarship too. He Joined automobile engineering in Cambridge
University, England. Recently he completed that course. After that
he got admission for advanced engineering in the University of Turin,
Italy. Now he is studying in that university in Italy. Soon many

him big amount of salaries.

Now Jayavel is 22 years old. In an interview, Jayavel said "I still
remember the days, when I was beaten by policemen for sleeping
on roadside platforms. At bus stops, I used to cry in mid nights,
while it was raining. Soon Im going to join a big company. There
are many children like me in Chennai. My aim is to send them to
schools and I should look after my mother".
