A 10 year-old boy entered an Ice cream shop and sat at a table.
A waitress put a glass of water in front of him.
“I would like to have chocolate ice cream. How much is it ?”
he asked.
“50 rupees,” replied the waitress.
The little boy pulled his hand out of his pocket and counted
the coins in it. “Well, I have only 45 rupees. what can I get
for 45 rupees ? he inquired.
By now, more people were waiting for a table and the waitress
was growing impatient. she brusquely replied “why to come to
shops without sufficient money ?? you can get a plain ice cream
for 45 rupees!”
The little boy again counted his coins.
“OK...I will have the plain ice cream,” he said.
The waitress brought the ice cream, put the bill of 45 rupees,
on the table and walked away.
The boy finished the ice cream, gave a 50 rupee note to the
waitress and said "keep the remaining 5 rupees as my tip to you".
He left.
The waitress understood the broad mind of the small kind.
If he had wanted, he would have bought "chocolate ice cream"
without giving the tip.
